Sin, Repentence and Forgiveness – How you can receive Jehovah’s forgiveness?

Bible Student elder, Aaron Kuehmichel tenderly examines this topic from the Bible.  Are we sinning?  Is Jehovah unhappy with our behavior and thoughts?  Are we deceiving ourselves into thinking we can confess our sins to Jehovah, then keep on sinning?  What steps can we take to correct our hearts and minds?  How can we get back on the path of Jehovah’s approval and blessing?  To hear this enlightening and thoughtful talk (discourse), click here:  Sin Repentance And Forgiveness_Kuehmichel-Aaron_2011-09-18_S_24k

SCRIPTURES TO CONSIDER:

We Are All Sinners

Romans 3:23  For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Isaiah 64:6  We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind.

We Need To Confess Our Sin

Proverbs 28:13  People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Hosea 5:15  Then I will return to my place until they admit their guilt and turn to me. For as soon as trouble comes, they will earnestly search for me.”

God Forgives Our Sin

1 John 1:7-9  But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.  If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Forgiving One Anothers Sins

Luke 17:3-4  So watch yourselves!    “If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”

Examples of Sin

Colossians 3:5-6   So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.  Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

Galatians 5:19-21  When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,  envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

David’s prayer for forgiveness after his sin with Bathsheba is rightly considered a model expression of repentance and plea for forgiveness. It is noteworthy that this Psalm is assigned to the chief musician — as a hymn to be repeatedly sung.  There is no attempt to hide or downplay his misdeed, his repentance is both public and, by repetition, enduring. Nor does he wait for his sin to be discovered, but makes his public confession “when Nathan the prophet came unto him,” upon the first realization of the enormity of his guilt.

To Hank: Hi, I have no problem looking at things from a different angle & considering another person’s view such as yours. I welcome all discussions from anyone who has an honest opinion but I feel it is right that this should be returned also. If we are all to get along & discuss what is the most important related subjects on this site (Jehovah God & Jesus Christ) then we must do so respectfully & be willing to take into consideration everyones beliefs or opinions. We are all here for the same reason “TRUTH”.
Thankyou for your replies, I do read them & do take note of what you say, there maybe times I may not agree with all you say but I respect your opinion, not everyone can agree all of the time lol.
    Kind regards,
    Daz

    To Chuck

only read 2 of your paragraphs. when done with this post, I will go back and read the rest. The president quote, I have no clue what it is. All I meant was, if it appears that my post from C.T. Russell’s journals can be posted I will post it to you and Daz.

Back when I was young and didn’t
read the Bible I was a gambler, you know, odds and that stuff. Hard 10 pays 7 to 1, hard six pays 9 to 1. Or reading poker hands and players.

And I would bet, you will never become a JW, but that does not mean I do not respect you. Same holds for Daz, Peter, Jeff, Jaqueline and Dupin and others.

So one might ask, why communicate? As I previously stated, I have learned things which deepens my love of God.

So where does my problem come from? I am not liked. But I assure you, I desire all to attain to repentance to Jehovah God. Because you know Jehovah God, and that his Son Jesus has been crowned king there lays some agreeable truths. The problem comes from those who don’t like what I say. And when I say something from C.T. Russell’s writings and the world gets upset, I became to wonder what do the Bible Students believe.

I guess if you and Peter and Dupin were to say Bible Students get offended at C.T. Russell’s writings I would understand. My interest in discussing things would be over, for then it would be like talking to Christendom. You mention Bible to them, and get a reply, only if you tickle my ears. I feel I am not a ear tickler, but try to discuss different ways of looking at things.

We go read the rest of your post now.

    Have a great day Chuck

    Hank
