WE BELIEVE

  • Both the Old and New Testament are Jehovah’s inspired words; the primary source of all Truth.
  • Man did not evolve but was created
  • Jehovah created his only-begotten Son, Jesus.  Jesus created all other things.
  • Jesus descended from heaven to earth and was born of Mary as a perfect human man, not as God in flesh.
  • God raised Jesus from death in a Spirit body, not in a physical body of flesh.
  • The Holy Spirit is Jehovah’s active power and force, not a person.
  • The Trinity is no where found or taught in the Bible.
  • Man is mortal and does not possess an immortal soul.  The soul ceases to exist after death.
  • There is no hell of fire where the wicked are punished.  “Hell” is from the same Greek and Hebrew words for “grave,” describing the sleep of death, not eternal torment.
  • We are now living in the ‘time of the end’
  • Jesus returned and has been invisibly present on earth since the early days of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
  • The 144,000 of Revelation 7 are the anointed Bride of Christ in heaven.
  • Earth will never be literally destroyed or completely depopulated
  • In the Kingdom, Christ will rule the earth in righteousness and peace
  • By their faithfulness to God, the obedient of mankind will be granted what our original parents lost—everlasting life in human perfection on a paradise earth.
  • Ultimately, the wicked will be eternally destroyed, but not first without a full opportunity to follow Christ.

I like this entire list of beliefs it’s clean it’s pure it’s biblical and I can surely go for it! There was a time in my life when I was a Kingdom Hall going Jehovah’s Witness well I’m still a worshipper of Jehovah and I do my very best to obey Jesus Christ is my king I was told one time by a lady that was one of the 144,000 anointed by her claim she told me that what makes you a Jehovah’s Witness is witnessing about Jehovah it was Jesus Christ himself that said I have come to make the name of my father known and I will make it known well we all know that Jehovah is not the most perfect translation but it’s close enough to convey the name of God and I try to use that name Jehovah obviously thought it quite important since he put it into the Old Testament some 5900 times these days I don’t give myself to any church buy a name I go where there are fellow Christians and I share with them and I lift up the name of Jehovah God and of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior that’s all I can do and somehow I would think that Jehovah is happy with that or I’m sure that he would let me know my greetings to everybody in the year 2018 hope to be seeing you all again as I make my rounds across the vast territory of the internet! I absolutely agree with everything written in that list. I would add that the fact Israel has physically returned to their homeland was a real selling point (so to speak) that the Bible Student Movement has proved correct in their format. Some dates came and went, but that was due to misunderstanding, not false prophecy as some contend. I assumed I was attracted to the Bible Student teachings because of my Jehovahs witness background, but I’m starting to realize it’s really because the spark of truth exists in that organization, but they’ve strayed so far from that path, all the things that I’ve always suspected were true have been confirmed by my study of Brother Russell’s teachings, and other Bible Students. Thank you, and God bless! Kevin

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Hi Kevin, Welcome. Would you share your story with us here. Many are encouraged when they see the path others took to get free.
I agree with you, it was not my J witness background that got me here it was the fact it made sense!
The witnesses were getting wild with the changes every other year and month.
I however along with others in the ex JW community suspect there is a government infiltration as it was with the Brothers under communism.
When you have an organization it is easy to work your way up to the top because often money speaks in an organization with many holding, stocks and a huge budget. Throw the money at the organization with large contributions and the government can get it’s men in there, all the way to the top. Their aim is to break up fringe organizations that require members to die (ie. blood doctrine). So that is why they infiltrate to break it up with crazy zigzagging doctrine knowing the smart people will exit. Since there is no concept of forming an organization in the Bible or a governing body, Jehovah and Jesus has allowed this and error along with other huge systems of religion as the daughters of Babylon. I view them as a part of this system.
      Thanks for commenting.

  • Hello. I agree with each of your beliefs except two. What scriptural evidence is there to say Jesus didn’t resurrect in a body of flesh and bones? Didn’t the apostles see him eating and drinking to prove that he was physically? Second, on what do you support the claim that Jesus returned invisible a hundred years ago? Doesn’t the book of Revelation state that every eye would see Jesus? May Jehovah bless you.

      Good evening Alex,
Awesome questions. I’ll take them as best as I can for I know many know more about the Bibke than I do.
      1. Remember when Abraham was in Mamre he saw three men coming to him that turned out to be 2 angels and the LORD? These were angels and angels are not physical beings. They ate with Abraham the Loaves Sarah made for him. Spirits have the ability to take on human form as these three did. Now when Jesus are he did the same things. In that instance Jesus said “Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” (Luke.24:39). Jesus was not saying that he was not a spirit in the sense that he has a flesh and bones body but that he was not a demon. The disciples of Jesus have seen spirits before. For example when Jesus was resurrected they saw Angels and did not fear. When the disciples with Jesus feared that saw as spirit they thought a demon and that’s why they were scared. This Jesus when he said “Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” he was stating he was not a demonic apparition. The marks on Jesus were a response to Thomas who wouldn’t believe unless he saw the marks in Jesus’ and side. So Jesus only let those marks appear. He didn’t have any others on him. Thomas was not yet anointed by the spirit therefore still needed a physical fleshly sign. Jesus even said “Flesh and Blood cannot inherit Gods’s Kingdom” 1 Cor 15:50. Here’s a few other scriptures that show Jesus was raised a spirit being.
      – 1 Pet 3:18
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit”

      -1 Cor 15:45
“45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living person.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.”

2 As for your second question I believe you are referring to Rev 1:7 which states
“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen”

To begin the word for “see” in this instance is Strongs word lists this word with 3708 “opsetai” and lists it as “Horao” which means “look upon, experience, perceive, discern, beware.” Now to help better understand this we will look at “HELPS Word Study” which breaks this down even more as “3708 horáō – properly, see, often with metaphorical meaning: “to see with the mind” (i.e. spiritually see), i.e. perceive (with inward spiritual perception)”

Notice how it says “metaphorical meaning” and “inward spiritual perception”? It shows it’s a perception. Jesus said he would come as a thief in the night. We often don’t notice a thief. The Greek word Jesus stated was “parousia” which means presence and is often translated “coming.” The disciples asked Jesus “What would be the sign on your coming(parousia) and the end of the Age? (Mat 24:3). The Greek word here does not mean coming as in someone is on the way. It means presence ask in an arrival. Why would the disciples need a sign for something if he would be visibly present?

Yes we do believe Jesus returned in 1874. This basis comes from Daniel 12 in which there are three time periods mentions: 1260,1290 and 1335 days. We know that I’m biblical prophesy that days are counted as years. For example the 70 weeks of Daniel in which the messiah would come and be cut off. 70 weeks times 7 days in a week equals 490 days and days are years so 490 years would bring the messiah and be would be cut off in the midst of the last week. In Daniel 12 the description is that of the papacy which was completely set up in 539 AD. If we add each of these days (1260,1290,1335) we get the following : 1799, 1829, 1874. 1799 is when the Pope was captured and this changed history. 1829 is when the major topic of Christianity (Christ Return) and 1874 when Christ returned. Since then just as Daniel 12 states that when Jesus is present the world will increase in knowledge and we can see that’s true in the last 100 years. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe in 1914. We believe in 1914 but our understanding is completely different.

Jesus compared his presence to the days of Noah As the following. “37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.” Matthew 24:37-39

This is a comparison of Jesus’ Parousia and he DAYS of Noah. This was a period of time. This is a comparison. He said it was the DAYS of Noah not the flood. It was the period of time. So during the presence it would be a period of time as well. Not and instantaneous event. He wasn’t comparing Jesus presence to the DAYS of
Noah. Not the flood. So it was a period of time.

I hope this helps and if anyone wants to add to it.

The Apostle John was in the upper room when Jesus materialized for Thomas. He commented on Jesus’ nature years later in his first epistle stating that it hasn’t appeared yet what we shall be but we shall be like him.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (1 John 3:2)

      • Lincoln

Dear Anon, I like your answer.

But I do not accept all “what the Bible students believe”. Not.

What you are talking about is very interesting, but you are not aware of what you are writing.

When Abraham had this visit, you do not realise what you are quoting.

        Genesis 18:1 Study Bible

        Abraham’s Celestial Visitors

“1 Now the LORD appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day”.

        The Lord Apperared to him?

        Who Lord? ruach יְהֹוָה

This was one of the times JHVH revealed himself to man in a man`s likeness, in flesh and bone / blood and was able to behave like a man.

        So was Jesus.

What is the punishment for a brother of the same faith. Marrying a sister of different faith?

    • Chuck Maly

What am I missing? Why would there be a punishment?

    • greg (Bible Student)

      Greetings Anonymous.

I’m really curious about your question. Would you be willing to help me understand the picture behind your question?

      -greg

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Why would you be punished? Explain to us what the concern is and are you a Jehovah witness?
If you are a witness there is no punishment per say. It is not recommended but brothers do it all the time or bring the girlfriend in and some sisters have been able to persuade the man to come into the witnesses. But I never heard of a real punishment if you go do it before you tell them is best also. Then they won’t speak against your wife. Hope this helps. Take Care.

    Thanks for your support
    kind regards

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Elizabeth hello, tell me more about this person. Is he a Bible student?

      • Lincoln

Dear Jacqueline, just a comment to this old post. I think Peter Lind mentioned is this person. It is in Danish, but you can use Google translation:

        http://xjv.dk/livshistorier/ole_lind.php

        • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Lincoln I finally figured out how to translate the page. (right click). His story could have been written by millions. How is he now I wonder because he seemed to at that time blame God for the ugliness of men, an organization that carries the name as a mocking to him. Just as they pass the emblem and changed the bible to fit this at Luke 22:17. They do as some wiccum, pass the emblems but don’t take it. This convinced me they are might be in league with worship of spirits as they have acknowledged once. Saying they get knowledge from dead GB members through the four living creatures.
Hopefully this brother has put the blame where it belongs on witnesses themselves and their governing body. Thanks for the link. jacqueline

Hi Jacqueline and Chris, I’ve been doing a little better lately. Recently I had lunch with Tom and Jan Gilbert, it was very encouraging…..how has your health been?

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Hi, so glad to hear from you I was just telling my son from Atlanta about you and your family trials. They just keep on coming. Healing for you will take time. And it may never happen for the mother until Millennium.
Come on and say hello on Wednesday if you can. We would love to hear your voice. Tell your wife hello for me and I think about her pain as a grandmother.
      Take Care.

  • Enzo

    Thank you Jacqueline,
Thank you for reposting the intitial response, from brother Peter, in what Bible Students believe, supported with Scriptures..
But like you said, the liberty in Christ permits to have another view on this issue, and I will respect those brothers and sisters…
I hope you will have the right threatment, and take good care of yourself..
And may, our God of Love, and his beloved son Jesus be with you, in giving you the right support in this difficult moments…
    Greetings Enzo..

  • Enzo

Thank you brother Czasenovi, for your point of view..
But like you said we are Bible Students, and what we are saying has to be proven with Scriptures, otherwise we are interpreting, or alluding things , and the danger is that we will impose our personal ideas, and become rulers of the conscience of our brothers and sisters…
I am not saying that you are such one, i think you are a good brother in Christ, concerned in helping others, keep doing that,…
But like I said in other posts, if you read them carefully, I can not find literally a scripture that says that someone that marry a non believer, has to be noted (signed) and everybody in the congregation has to limit their association with that brother, or sister..
Can you prove with the Scriptures that this is a riigth, disciplinary action?
Or are you interpreting, from Scriptures? And if it is the case, and you are suggesting it, dont you think that another Bible Student has the right to have another view about it?
I hope you understand the real issue, what we are discussing here .
I wish you a good evening, and may the lord, and our master be with you..
    Greetings,
    Enzo..

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Enzo, this is Jacqueline, I am copying the answer Br. Peter gave to you on your initial question and it is what (Bible Students believe) not all commenting are Bible Students as there is freedom and liberty in Christ and all cann give what they see from scripture. But for those following the conversation I am reposting what Br. Peter said. Take Care.

Br. Peter Karavas (Bible Student) said:
Enzo – No. There is no embarrassing public announcements or any ill treatment from the elders or congregation to any who marry one who is not a Bible Student. It does not happen often and one consequence could be any pressure or conflict from the non Bible Student spouse. Sometimes the Bible Student will stop meeting with us because it is easier than having conflict with their spouse. However some non Bible Student spouses have become Bible Students.

Although the Bible directs the anointed to marry believers it permits marriage to those not in the faith.

      1 Cor 7.12-13 (nasb) ”
But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her. And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away.”

1 Pet 3:1 (NASV) “In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives,”

      • Cazenovi (Bible Student)

Are you referring to me as not being a Bible Student? You have not greeted me nor asked me and took the liberty to discredit my faith in Christ. That is mildly offensive and discouraging since I have perceived you to be of a more mild spirit than that. I have been ‘lurking’ here for months and seen how welcoming and encouraging you are no matter who comments even those who berate you…

I just wanted to defend my faith dear sister. Thanks!

        Agape in Christ,
        Cazenovi

        • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Br. Cazenovi hello, I am sorry if I offended you. I thought you said you were an active JW and you used terms that indicated you were, But that is not a problem as all my family are witnesses. My statements are general. In fact it was to the vast audience that I knew was looking on, and general. I will say from time to time in my comments that not all commenting are associated as a Bible Student but have the freedom and liberty in Christ to voice their views.
Everyone is aware of how this had to be made clear many months ago as a poster thought all commenting were Bible students and we were confusing her and actually had to get on a call to clear up the situation we had created. She was innocent and got caught in an ongoing conversation where we had Jehovah witness apologist and others on.
I observe and assist Br. Peter closely on this site and nothing is personal to me.
In fact my ministry from Christ is to the former Jwitnesses.
On this site persons can’t be afraid to voice their opinions. Some will be spirited because of what they are going thru and we let them and understand their pain but we don’t get offended because it will shut them down.
Thankd for your compliment, I will now keep in mind that your perception of me is agreeable. However I wil act in the Spirit with one that might come on and beat up one that is crying out in frustration.
So if that happens I hope you don’t change your perception of me. (smile)
Now we do see that the internet is a blessing but it does not convey facial expressions such as a smile sacasm or meanness.
I meant you no harm my statement was general, I know how many are following the conversation and will continue to jump in from time to time and make that declaration.
I question no ones walk with God.

    • Cazenovi (Bible Student)

**I would like to conclude this conversation by saying that I too believe and agree that noting and disassociation is not Christlike and is not directed in the scriptures for marrying non-believers.**

I do not interpret scripture in now way or formation, I assert that scripture interprets itself in its entirety, ignoring the context of the harmony of the scriptures and choosing which to focus on WILL lead to wrong conclusions.

I simply left thoughts to consider for additional basis for what you personally decide, since it is not a part of the ten commandments, principle takes precedence.

I am indeed a Bible Student. I have been for many years now. I apologize that I have not identified myself as a Bible Student. I shall indicate such to my name.

      Agape in Christ,
      Cazenovi

  • Ex Jw

Just wanted to say hi to every one

    • Chris

      Hello. And welcome brother

    • Jacqueline (Bible Student)

Hi Exjw, how are you doing? Is everything okay? I am waiting on a medical diagnosis but the results aren’t back yet. So praying for good results or the ability to overcome and get proper treatment if it is not good. Hospital wants to do more test, I might have to wait thru the weekend. So I guess I will keep very busy until then.
How is your wife and the rest of your family after the death of your grandson? I think about your family whe I see a mention on TV. I know you are a comfort to the others in your family.
