The suggested answers provided to all questions below are based on and in harmony with the views of the original Watchtower Bible and Tract Society when under the guidance of Pastor Charles Taze Russell.  Comments will often include a link to Pastor Russell’s own explanation.  However, in any case, we leave your conclusions to your own personal study, prayer, conscience and the influence of the Holy Spirit.

    RR,

I meant rules like the 141 rules of the JW. Where they try to run your life.

Doug, those “141 rules” are not Jehovah’s Witness rules that you will find in any of their publication. They are rules that some former JW made up and posted them to a website.

I guess if you read the New Testament and document everything a Christian could not do, you would come up with hundreds if not thousands of “rules”.

Thank you again. That is great to know! Right now I am searching for a Bible Student group to be a part of and maybe my wife too.

    Richard,

Thank you very much for this! I did not realize that. I have another question. Do you know if the Bible Student Movement different groups have anything like the 141 rules like the JW? I was looking into the JW and my wife found these rules and they freaked us out and we decided not to pursue involvement with the JW.

    Thanks,
    Doug

No Doug,The only rules we have are in Gods word, “All scripture is inspired” If it is not in gods word, then we cannot invent rules to cover it.We have freedom in Christ,as long as we do not abuse that freedom! We do not have men telling us what is right-All our Elders are elected by the Eklesia(Congregation). Each class/congregation is Independant,we have no headquaters or central control, the Bible-Gods word is the tie that binds us together!Bro Richard.Bible Student-Australia

Hi Doug, may I ask where these “rules” are? As already mentioned. Bible Students as a whole do not have rules to abide by. We simply use the spirit to guide our thoughts and actions. I guess you can say there are “rules” for nominating Elders, Deacons and other church positions. But that’s about it!

Thank you Peter for the email. I work M-F during the day. I do have a question, can one be baptized into the bible student belief? I have been baptized before.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Doug – Bible Students do provide baptism services which are requested and planned for in advance. Most who have become Bible Students are baptized again because they did not feel they understood what they were doing or that God accepted the first time they were Baptized. Others have felt that God accepted their Baptism prior and chose not to be baptized again with the Bible Students. Each New Creature in Christ has the liberty to make that decision for themselves. Find more about what the Bible teaches about Baptism at this link: https://www.friendsofjehovahswitnesses.com/2015/09/12/what-does-it-mean-to-be-baptized-into-christ/

    Hello Peter K. and RR,

A rep. from the central Ohio group, http://www.biblestudents.com, did get in touch with me today and he said there are a few students in the Cincinnati area but no meetings. I wish there was or just some people to talk to by phone. I dont have Facebook. Thank you for your help. RR could you check to be for sure though? You both can email me also.
    Thanks

Hi Doug, There are Bible Students in the Ohio area. Not sure about Loveland/Cincinnati. I could check, I know we have brethren in the Columbus area. Unfortunately with Covid, like most churches, most brethren are meeting online via Zoom. Who knows when this will blow over. I’m sure some of the Bible Students here will be able to assist you with online meetings.

Hello. I am very interested in the Bible Student beliefs and believing in Jehovah in this way. I just do not want to join the local Kingdom Hall where I live here in Loveland OH. I am near Cincinnati OH and I have been researching to see if there are any Bible Student study groups that I could study with instead. If any one knows of any could they please contact me?
Thank you ahead of time for any assistance on this.
