Is our character development important to Jehovah?

Character development is the whole point of our Christian walk.  The responsibility of the 144,000 on Paradise Earth, as Christ’s body members, will be to be earths Kings (Rev 1:6 ) , Priests (Rev 20:6) and Judges (1 Cor 6:2).  Jehovah will only give that power and responsibility to those who have developed a Christ-like character.  Rom 12:2 says ” And quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making YOUR mind over” NWT.     Gal 5:22, 23 says, “…the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control” NWT.   In the 442 page book, “Character Development,” Pastor Russell gives advice from the Bible on how to develop faith, humility, knowledge, self-control, patience, love,  brotherly love, prayer and avoiding evil-speaking.

You wrote “The responsibility of the 144,000 on Paradise Earth, as Christ’s body members, will be to be earths Kings.” Are you suggesting that the 144,000 will rule ON paradise earth?

    • Peter K. (admin)

Hi Berean. Thanks for your question. Yes, I am suggesting that the 144,000 will rule ON paradise earth (from Heaven / the spiritual government / the New Jerusalem – Rev 21:2).

According to the Bible, Jehovah is the ruler and chooses to rule through His Son, Jesus.

      Psalms 110:16-6 (ASV)
1 Jehovah saith unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
2 Jehovah will send forth the rod of thy strength out of Zion: Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
3 Thy people offer themselves willingly In the day of thy power, in holy array: Out of the womb of the morning Thou hast the dew of thy youth.
4 Jehovah hath sworn, and will not repent: Thou art a priest for ever After the order of Melchizedek.
5 ¶ The Lord at thy right hand Will strike through kings in the day of his wrath.
6 He will judge among the nations, He will fill the places with dead bodies [to be resurrected from the dead to a judgement and repentance period per other Bible verses]; He will strike through the head in many countries.

Other Bible verses teach us that Jesus’ body members (His Bride, the 144,000) will reign over mankind under the authority, guidance and instructions of their master and head, Jesus Christ, as earths Judges, Priests and Kings.

      REIGNING AS KINGS & PRIESTS
2 Tim 2:12 – If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. NKJV
Rev 20:6 – first resurrection…they shall be priests of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Rev 1:6 – “has made us kings and priests to His God and Father” NKJV

JUDGES OF ISRAEL & THE WORLD
1 Cor 6:2 – “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?” NKJV
Matt 19:28 – “in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. NKJV
Dan 7:27 – “the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints” NIV

Under the rulership of Jesus Christ and His Body members, mankind will learn righteousness.
Isa 29:18, 24 – Deaf will hear, blind will see. Those who erred will understand.
Isa 26:9 – “when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.”
Isa 11:9-10 – “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.”
Mic 4:1-2 – “Many nations shall say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.”
Isa 35:8 – “The way of holiness… shall be for (the redeemed)…fools, shall not err (therein).” ASV

Let me know your thoughts and Bible verses. Thanks.

  • I have read, and thought on many comments of the Bible students. Many are different. I agree with some, do not agree with some others. None take glory away from God. All appear to be making efforts to walk in Jesus footsteps.
I understand all believe in their own concept of the truth, which makes it hard at times to put what we believe aside, and take up that of others.
The one thing I do not except, is taking all scriptures at face value. An example of this is the two trees in the garden. All the other trees in the Bible are symbolic. Why do so many believe the two in the Garden are real trees? Many believe it is okay to be wrong on some things, and not on others. I feel the simple things we pass over may be keys to many other questions that need to be answered.
Here is an example of what I mean; Many believe God is punishing the human family for what Adam, and Eve did. Millions have turned their backs to God because they believe he is a monster for doing such a thing. After all, we would not do that, and were just humans.
This eating a fruit fairy tale puts the blame of sickness, ageing, and death on Gods plate.
Satan would love the human family to believe that. Yes the Bible says they ate a fruit. Does that mean they ate a real fruit?
I have read the question of many, and the replies. I believe the questions students ask are important to them if no one else. I do not believe a reply with just a scripture is a good answer. I believe an answer should contain reasoning also.
One statement I have seen over the years: “Jesus died for our sins.” Think about that statement. If Jesus died for our sins, what does it matter what we do…Jesus death would have paid for all those sins. We know that is not true. If it were, we would not daily have to ask our Father to forgive us. Jesus died to remove one sin, that which Adam, and Eve did, and passed on to us. Which brings up the question…”Would God punish us for what two people we never even knew did?” Why would he do that? Many of us are parents, or have been. Would we ever ground our son because his sister didn’t clean her room? Are we more compassionate than God? If we would not punish one child for what another did, why would God? The reason I bring this up is to show, Adam, and Eve had to do something that may be physically passed on to us…and to just say, ”Well they ate a fruit off of some tree.” Satan would like us to believe God is a monster. God put the tree there. Two people ate from it, so God is killing us because of what they did.
I like the students who comment, and answer. But, I believe we are heading for trouble because just replying with a scripture could put us in a position to fall away. Sure we are strong now…but would we be strong under torture? You start sticking hot needled under my finger nails, or a white hot rod up my butt, you had better believe I will need more than just a scripture…I had better know just what that scripture means, and what the whole issue is about.

    There are many scriptures that tell me, “Something is wrong with the Garden story. “ Don’t give me;

“Ge 4:1 (NKJV) “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.”
Since the Bible describes Adam as father Cain, we should trust the Bible.”

Sounds good, but that answers nothing. It makes God guilty. There are many scriptures that prove Satan is the father of Cain, and there are two seeds in this world, and it is why we die. I have read the scrolls. Our Bible was written from the scrolls…the two should match, but do not. Here is Ge 4:1 from the scrolls; “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the angle of the LORD.”

    Thessalonians 5:21
Test all things, which would include our old notions, and then “hold fast” to the good ones—the ones that pass the test. A mistake many make is to follow tenaciously the instruction of Revelation 3:11 to “hold fast to what we have” while completely ignoring the additional instructions of I Thessalonians 5:21 to test first.

    Domenic,
I just want to address this issue you are bringing up about a mixed seed, suggesting that Cain was the son of Satan. We have to be careful with the various ancient books outside of the Bible. Many of these have some crazy thoughts and these books are not inspired. Granted, I have found some interesting material in the books of Enoch, Adam and Jubilees. Nonetheless, we can not place much confidence in material not inspired, especially if it contradicts the Bible, as in this case.
Ge 4:1 (NKJV) “Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.”

ch, Adam and Jubilees.
Since the Bible describes Adam as father Cain, we should trust the Bible.”

Please understand, If I can not prove something with the Bible, It is not true in my thinking. Let me address a few points from the Bible.

Adam did noT know the women until after they left the garden. In Genesis 3:15, God is talking to the serpent about what he did with his seed. This serpent was not a human. It was not an animal. It was something else. Whatever it was, it was not as yet on its belly, thus we should assume it was an upright creature. Now why would God be talking to this creature about what he did with his seed? It had to be something very important…God was even angry. This scripture, Genesis 3:15 is were God made the plan to save the unborn human family…God is telling this creature about bringing Jesus, and that this creature would burse Jesus in the heel, and Jesus would burse this creature in the head. When Jesus was on earth as a human, an animal did not burse him in the heel, nor a man…it had to be something else. I used to ask myself, “Do angels have seed?” the answer I came away with, was, “I can find nothing in the Bible to prove angels have seed.” What I could prove, the angels who came to earth, and took on the forms of men…now these took human women, and had children by them…thus by using the Bible I could prove angels could have children with humans, if the angels took on human like form.
I know the scripture, “Adam knew his wife, and see bore Cain.” Has that scripture been tampered with? In Genes 5, the life of Adam. Seth is the first child named to be Adams. Why are Cain, and Able not listed here?
After Cain murdered his brother Able, God said to Cain, “You are a liar, and a murder like your father the Devil.” God does not just say stuff. Why would God say Cain was like his father the Devil? Better yet, why would God refer to the Devil as a murder? Who did he murder? I’m sure we both agree, God would not punish the whole human family for something two people did. Adam, and Eve did something very bad, and because of it, we age, and die. Adam, and Eve did not die from eating a fruit…they died from a judgment from God. Think on this; Adam, and Eve knew what death was…how did they know that? Everything on earth, aged, and died, Trees, plants, animals, fish birds, bugs…everything. Humans were designed to live forever.
There are many trees in the bible, all symbolic. These trees represent people. What proof is ther that the two trees in the garden were real trees? Jesus referred to himself, “As the tree of life.” Who’s idea was it that the two trees in Genesis were real trees? You Peter have a family tree. (symbolic.) You are also part of the human family tree. (symbolic.) There is the animal family tree. (Symbolic.) Science has proven, animal seed, and human produce nothing. A hose, and a fish can produce nothing. Eve got pregnant by a see that worked with human. That seed had to come from Adam, or a creature very close to man.
Before Eve had Cain, Adam called her WOMEN. After she had Cain, Adam named her Eve. Look up the meaning of Eve Peter. Adam was saying the women gave birth without his seed.

Lets look at the creature God is talking to in Genesis 3:15. What did this creature do? We know he lied to the women. If that is all the creature did, (we know from revelation that creature was Satan) why did God not say to Satan, “Because you LIED,” rather than,
“Because of what you did with your seed.” does not make sense? Satan either lied, or did something with his seed. I’m sure god knows the difference.
The other angels who knew women, and had children by them, their children were giants. “The mighty men of old,” the Bible calls them.
When God created man, he commanded the angels to serve man. I have often wondered how they took that command? Here angels were powerful, and had been alive for a long time. God wanted them to serve this little featherless creature with the brain of a jelly fish. Many rebelled. Satan was not a part of these angels. God, when he gives a command, whoever he has to give it to, must obey, or God will put them in a position were they have to, plus, he puts consequences on top of it. He cast them down to earth to serve Adam…this is the creature God is speaking to that God put on it’s belly. I’m sure when God cast them down he took many of their powers away. Maybe even made them lower than man, but higher than the animals. These creatures were of a different tree…but their see was very close to human seed. But how did Satan get evolved? Satan had to use one of these creatures.
Peter I also follow the scrolls, after all, the Bible was written from the scrolls. The two should match. In some places they do not. One such place is were Eve gives birth to Cain.
In the Bible she says, “I have gotten a man from the Lord.” In the scrolls it reads, “I have gotten a man from the angel of the Lord, Sammual.”

In the New Testament epistle of 1 John, ch. 3 v. xii it also states, “Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother.” John also recorded in his gospel (8:44) that Christ said, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.” These passages, if taken literally as they are by advocates, seem to suggest that the New Testament writers believed that Cain, the first murderer, was indeed the serpent’s seed.

The foundational scripture for the serpent’s seed doctrine appears in Genesis 3:15, which in the King James Version states “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Advocates interpret this literally to mean that an offspring of the Serpent via Eve would eventually lose in a mortal conflict with one of “her seed”. Eve’s son by Adam would have presumably been called “Adam’s seed” so it has been suggested, since a woman does not naturally produce seed, that “her seed” is the first prophesy of an eventual human messiah produced by means of a virgin birth. Adherents believe this sets up the serpent’s seed as an antitype to Jesus Christ.

The following points and scriptures are largely agreed upon by all proponents to be the basis of the Serpent Seed doctrine, although variations do occur as mentioned above.
The Two Trees. The starting point of the discussion is usually on the two trees, the Tree of Life and the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:10). Proponents note the difference between the “trees that grow out the ground” as opposed to “the trees in the midst of the garden.” This is used to indicate the two trees are not physical trees but principles (e.g. ideas, rules).[18][19] They also point to Rev. 2:7 and Rev. 22:2, where the Tree of Life is now in heaven to show that the two trees are not the same kind of trees that grow on Earth but instead are something spiritual. Furthermore they point out that since man chose to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, it should still be visible somewhere in the world today, which they claim is the overt sexuality of society.
The Serpent, Gen. 3. The serpent in its original form was a creature capable of speech, and it had not yet at that point been cursed to go “upon [its] belly”; thus some proponents claim that the “serpent” was originally an upright human-like creature.[20] Some proponents claim the serpent was intended to be used for manual labor and therefore was made to look like a man but was not given a soul.[21] The chapter states that the serpent “beguiled” Eve. In Early Modern English this word literally meant to seduce or lead astray.[22]
Sex. In the Bible, the sexual act is always obliquely referenced in Moses’ writings. It is always referred to discreetly, such as “knowing”. Similarly in Proverbs 30:20, it states “such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.” This is used as evidence that the trees and the fruit are just another cryptic way to describe sex.
The Punishment, Gen. 3. Proponents also point to the punishment to show that the act was intercourse. When Adam and Eve sinned they covered their genitals, not their mouths, indicating they sinned not with their mouths but with their genitals. The punishment God put on them also affected sexual reproduction: He caused the woman to have menstrual cycles and to have increased pain in childbirth. God’s curse also put enmity between the descendants of Adam (e.g., Abel) and the descendants of the serpent (e.g., Abel’s murderer Cain).[23]
The Birth, Gen. 4. At the birth of Cain, Eve said “I have gotten a man from the Lord.” Proponents claim that in the remaining two pre-Flood chapters, Adam’s descendants are called the “sons of God”, not “men”,[24] while the word “men” refers solely to the descendants of Cain. Eve was also called “the mother of all living” (Gen. 3:20), but Adam was not similarly called “the father of all living”.
The Offspring, Gen. 4. Cain and Abel were of different occupational backgrounds. Abel tended the flocks and Cain tilled the ground. Proponents claim these traits were inherited from their fathers; Adam was to rule over the animals and the serpent was intended to tend the Garden of Eden. Another difference between them was that Abel, being of pure birth, knew how to give a proper sacrifice to God. Cain, not being pure, did not know how to give a proper sacrifice, he only knew he needed to give one, indicating he was only inherited a portion of the knowledge that Abel had inherited. His impurity was also displayed by his jealousy and murder of Abel, some proponents argue that these are not traits God would have created in Adam and Eve and could not have been inherited from them.
The Two Lines of Descent. Gen. 4–5. Some proponents claim that because the two lines of descent are recorded separately it indicates they were somehow different. It notes how the developments in Cain’s sides were all negative (e.g. Lamech’s declaration in Gen. 4:23 that “I have slain a man to my wounding”[25]) But in Seth’s line (Gen. 5) nothing is mentioned of anything evil, and each patriarch “begat sons and daughters”. Ultimately, the two lines intermarry (Gen. 6:4: “There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.”), and God then destroyed the world with a flood.[26] Proponents also point to the biological principal of heterosis being evidenced in the offspring of the interbreeding of the two lines being giants.
Christ. Ultimately Seth’s line leads to Jesus, who was born of a virgin. Proponents point to the fact that all humanity was impure and therefore incapable of “breeding” a “pure” Son of God as the reason Christ had to be born of a virgin. Many proponents claim that Christ was born in the same state that Adam was created: perfect and without sin. They claim he had to be created by God in order for him to be pure and to be the “perfect sacrifice”.[13][27]
Parable of the Tares. Regardless of the understanding of the Serpent Seed based on the book of Genesis, many who believe in the doctrine hold that one of the most important evidences for the doctrine comes from Jesus unfolding the revelation the Parable of the Tares. In this parable Jesus confirmed there were two distinct children present in the world until the end.

  • Jacqueline I agree, all must try not to sin. The difference between Christians, and non-Christians, is Christians fall down, but they get up, and keep trying to be good…
Here is my point; Who is to judge how hard a person is trying? Who is to judge how long a person need to make changes?

I have heard non-smokers say, “All you have to do is just quit.”
“Math is simple. I don’t understand why you don’t get it?”
“You have two legs. Why can’t you run as fast as me?”

Sometimes the music does not fit the dance.

    • Jacqueline

I agree it is difficult for some more than others because of the experiences in their life and genetics is so strong. That is why God and Jesus only can judge in righteousness.
Now, that brings to my mine this “Sainthood” stuff with these two Popes. How in the world can these people decide who is a saint. And don’t they know saints will have another home, yet these people believe they are following the bible. I believe that it is Christians he chooses not a religion, people are called out. Meeting together helps to strengthen and encourage.
I posted a letter about the kingdom hall tithing that is being implemented. The appointment of elders by CO is said to be modeled after the early Christians but only when they apostacized did they need all these huge buildings. You would think the Watchtower would see this burden they are imposing with their huge organization.

  • hank

This is called reasoning. Ps 25:8, “Good and upright is Jehovah. That is why he instructs sinners in the way to live.”

Ps 104:35, “The sinners will vanish from the earth, And the wicked will no longer exist.”

What kind of reasoning person will see this? Ps 37:34, “When the wicked are done away with, you will see it.”

As a reasoning person, which group do think that will be? Ps 104:35, or Ps 25:8

    • Jacqueline

Hank as a witness I was taught to put all this during the Gospel Age when Christ is taking out of the nations those to be with him. Now I have learned to put the fulfillment of these scriptures in the proper age during and after the 1,000 yrs of learning and judgement of mankind. Now when I reason on it, it makes sense.

  • Hank,
Perhaps you are reading just words in the Bible, and not reasoning. What sinner is better than others sinners?

  • hank

The Bible does not teach that.

  • I would like to bring up a subject most turn away from;

    TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS?

I am neither, TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS.I have my own sins. Over the years I have talked to many who are TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS. As some of you understand my nature, I dig deep into Gods word. I was never satisfied to reply to those of the above inflection with, “You must change, or die.”
On other post, and PM’s to, Peter. I have talked about Satan’s seed. The mixing of human, with animal like seed from Satan. I will not attempt to explain (via scriptures) proof of mixed seed on this post. Some time back, a friend who is Muslim asked, “Why do you think some people are Gay?” I explained the mixing of seeds, and in the animals kingdom, TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS are common. Many of these animals remain together for life.

It is a true statement, “Men who sleep with men, will not inherit the Kingdom.”
The word sin means, “Falling short of the mark.” In other words, because all humans sin, all humans fall short of the mark. We will not be able to stand to the mark until we are perfect. From my understanding of Gods word, we will not be perfect until the end of the 1,000 year reign of Jesus. At that time, we must be free of sin, and sin no more. Until that then, we are all sinners…we all fall short of the mark, TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS, and all other kinds of sinners.
It is a simple matter to prove (but new to most Christians) Satan had sex with Eve, and bore Cain…mixed seed. This mixing is why we age, and die. It is also why some humans are, TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS is an animal nature. Should we expect those with this inflection to change over night? NO. God give all sinners a thousand years to make all the needed changes. If God gives humans 1,000 years, we must need it for all types of sins. No sinner is any better than any other. Yes, we must try to be less of a sinner than we are, but do not judge were some stand with their sins. Jesus said, “You could not be good if you wanted to.”
Should Christians embrace, TRANSGENDER’S, HOMOSEXUALS AND LESBIANS as brothers, and sisters? Let me reword that statement; “Should Christian sinners embrace other Christian sinners as brothers, and sisters?

Domenic, I would like to explain to you and for the benefit of others the reason it might seem as if we are censoring or removing your comments. if you use any words that spam deems not appropriate, such as “sex” in it, it will spam it and we won’t know unless I go thru the spam. I do maybe 6 times a day. Also if you put a lot of links it will do it also. Because it recognized your name and ip as a regular poster it put your comment in moderation for Br. Peter to look at and decide whether to approve. I made him aware of your comment when you posted on “contact form”. A quicker way is to notify us directly on the site and we will look for your comment. Most websites has words that will get it spamed. Just a note so you know we didn’t do it and have no control as it is a great policy. Thank you.

    • Jacqueline

Domenic, I was just on another site where the discussion was about homosexuals. It is true that Christ names a number of persons in 1Cor.6
Some take advantage of God’s grace and mercy and willingly indulge in sin purposely. They want to be justified IN SIN, rather than FROM SIN. So while sin is sin, we sometimes fall into sin but try to get out and pull out of this weakness. Some simply LOVE IT TO DEATH. Our faith, and John 17:17 says we can be sanctified through God’s truth. Our sacrifice can get us justification now.
Let me give you an example of a dear JW relative that said she married thinking her tendency to lesbian would go away. Then she committed adultery on a large scale to see if maybe her husband a JW was at fault in pleasing her. Nope. So she divorced gave her child to a relative and realized she was just lesbian. She was observed when her sister opened the door and saw. She gave us this explanation.
Clearly there is some problem here. I and others noticed when she was a child she could have easily been a boy as she was a little different.
Now, the rest of the story. She prances in the Gay Parades dressed and doing outrageous things. She seems depraved now. The same can be said of adulterers and fornicators. One JW man confesses every 18 months to his wife and the cong. Another case in point, one sister hasn’t married but commits fornication whenever and confesses. I have some clients that just plain old don’t care and it is a belt notch type thing.
What I am saying is practicing and expecting God to accept them into the kingdom as heirs is what they expect but he says No, you will not come up here with that attitude.
So Sin is Sin and we all sin butsome at least try, try, try to conform to the will of God and can be Justified although sinners.
So since now isn’t Judgement day, God let them just go on until Christ with the sword of his mouth takes over. (He Speaks and it is done) During the thousand years all genetic issues will be cleared up. The biggest genetic problem SIN. Any practicing sin will be doing it because they want to go against God and it won’t be tolerated. Just my thought on your comment
